Nice Selection - Diverse and well organised

I bought this book along with numerous others to introduce my 8 yr old daughter (pianist) to ensemble playing. The pieces are well selected, simple - inermediate, great for sight reading material, and also evening entertainment. I find she is increasingly eager to sight read a couple duets after dinner rather than perform one of her new Solo sonatas for us.

The book has proved to be well worth the investment. High Recommendation!!

About the Author

Editor Lynn McDonald is a professor of sociology at the University of Guelph, Ontario, a former president of the National Action Committee on the Status of Women, Canadas largest womens organization, and a former Member of Parliament. She herself has been a public health advocate. As a Member of the Canadian Parliament, she succeeded in getting the Non-smokers Health Act adopted in 1988 as a private members bill. It not only made Parliamentary history (aside from the fact that McDonald was the first Ms in the House of Commons) but it also made Canada a leader in the tobacco wars. She is the author of several books on women theorists.

THE WAY IT IS

This textbook is unique concerning transcranial Doppler because Dr. Alexandrov does not edit other people's work but concentrates on case presentations that clinicians dealing with stroke and TIA patients will all relate to. I've done 20,000 transcranial Doppler studies over the past 30 years. I learned how to better differentiate hyperemic flow from hyperdynamic flow and was introduced to the Soustiel ratio which deals with posterior circulation vasospasm. The rest was pure confirmation of hemodynamic principles that work on stroke patients time and time again. It is hard to believe in the United States CTA and MRA are the only tools available for cerebral circulation analysis in a very large percentage of mid-to-large sized hospitals. There is an educational breakdown somewhere.

A sweet Hannukah story

Melly's Menorah is a sweet book about a little girl (in animal charachter) trying to help out during family preparations for Hannukah. It shows the busy family, each one contributing to the special celebration. No-one seems to need little Melly's help but at the end she saves the celebration. The stickers add to the fun. A cute book for 3-4 year olds, I bought a bunch to give away as party favors for our young relatives and friends at Hannukah.

Chanukkah treasure

I was recommended to this book when i was looking for something to read to my grand dughters' pre school class. This is an excellent story for the under fives. It is also excellent for audiences that are not jewish as an introduction to the holiday that is light hearted and not too "Religious".
