Great Book!!

This book is great I bought this in addition to the required book for our maternal-newborn clinical rotation and it was a great addition. It provides information in a nice clear and concise format. There is not a lot of fluff and it is easy to read! I used this book more than the required textbook. It is more like reading someone's notes they took from a class or book. If you are looking for wordy descriptions and pages of the same information with one simple concept that could be summarized in a few sentences then this book is not for you. If you are looking to direct your studying and getting important information with minimal reading than this is the book for you! I was glad I purchased this extra book. Everyone else wanted to share and I loaned it out several times during the semester.

This book is just ok in my opinion. I like a text book with TEXT and lots of it. This book is to "listy"...it is just bullet after bullet of info. It's to the point I guess, but I prefer a classic textbook with more explanation.

Entertaining and Wise Discussion of Male Friendships

BUDDY SYSTEM is a new book by Dr. Greif that combines his trademark: hundreds of personal interviews with scholarly observations, a book that anyone can understand and enjoy and from which anyone can profit. He writes in a "consumer friendly " manner, full of anecdotes, stories, witty asides and sound practical advice for readers of all ages, races, religions and persuasions. I saw myself and my friends on many pages of the book, and so will any reader. It is a great primer on making and keeping friends, identifying the kinds of friends you have("just", "rust", "trust" and "must"),comprehending the role of your spouse in your friendships, and avoiding losing your friends as time and distance play their tricks. And it is FUN to read!

More like a dissertation...

The book reads more like a grad school dissertation, tediously rehashing study data, than a book designed to help men build friendships. It "preaches to the choir" the benefits of having friendships, but saves little space for recommendations on actually accomplishing this. I think this book misses the mark on its intended audience.

About the Author

Lynne Díaz-Rico is Professor of Education at California State University, San Bernardino where she coordinates the M. A. in Education, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages program and offers courses for California’s teacher preparation programs. Her books, A Course For Teaching English Learnersand The Crosscultural, Language, and Academic Development Handbook (now in its fourth edition) are widely used in programs of teacher education to prepare teachers for multiethnic and linguistically diverse classrooms. Her research interests are in intercultural communication, classroom discourse, and innovative English-language-acquisition pedagogy. She is a frequent speaker at state and national conferences, and has served as President of California TESOL (CATESOL).

About the Author
An army brat, James McGee grew up in Gibraltar, Germany and Northern Ireland. He has held a variety of jobs in banking, newspapers, the airline industry and book selling. A seasoned traveller across Europe, Australia, the US and the Far East, he currently lives in Somerset, England. As well as writing thrillers, he is also the author of the successful Matthew Hawkwood series of novels: Ratcatcher (US title: Hawkwood), Resurrectionist, Rapscallion, Rebellion and The Blooding.

All of James McGee's book deal with a subject from which I always learn something about our world. Besides a good story, an interesting plot, one can also get educated. Looking forward to reading more of his books. They never disappoint.
